Stella McCartney Looks to the Ocean For S/S 27

Known for her focus on sustainability, Stella McCartney looked to the ocean for S/S 27, using recycled polyester, protein-based materials, deadstock, and lab-grown wool throughout the collection. The palette moved through ivy, coral, cerulean, and seafoam, with subtle athleisure touches appearing in drawstring-detailed blazers alongside draped eveningwear with pronounced shoulder pads and sleek, streamlined cuts. Ocean references surfaced throughout the collection, including seashell embellishments on mini dresses, balzers, and pants, dolphin graphics across sweaters and dresses, and a shark graphic bag seen on Saar Mansvelt Beck. Coming just days after McCartney helped launch the Climate Pledge Fashion Coalition, the collection felt particularly timely. What could have been simply an ocean-inspired collection instead read like a wake-up call, turning a message about the ocean into a broader reflection on fashion’s environmental impact.
