John Galliano’s First Zara Collection Is Here
Just weeks after the Metropolitan Museum of Art scrapped its planned John Galliano retrospective, the couturier’s first collection for Zara arrived during Paris Fashion Week inside a historic mansion in Le Marais. The by-appointment-only pop, running through October 6, is built around Re{form}, a two-year creative partnership Zara announced in March, in which Galliano takes archival Zara garments and accessories and reworks them through haute couture techniques before reproducing the designs in new materials. The campaign was shot by Steven Meisel, styled by Karl Templer with hats by Stephen Jones, hair by Guido Palau, makeup by Pat McGrath, and casting by Piergiorgio Del Moro. The collection is available now at Zara flagships in Madrid and London and on zara.com globally, with prices ranging from €20 to €719. “An invitation into the mind of a couturier,” Galliano said of the pop-up, “to discover not only the final expression, but the imagination, research and technical development that bring a collection to life.”
