Moschino [tv] Joins With H&M
Weekend 1 of #Beychella unveiled news that Swedish retailer H&M’s next collaboration will be from the luxury house of kitsch and humor, Moschino. From the mind of the Great Equalizer Jeremy Scott, the capsule collection rolling out November 8th was partly revealed on the backs of Cardi B and Gigi Hadid and will include womenswear, menswear, and accessories. The fast fashion retailer has partnered with major brands starting in 2002 with Karl Lagerfeld and adding Lanvin, Kenzo, Balmain, Maison Margiela, Erdem, and Alexander Wang to their roster.

Saint Laurent will be shown in New York in June
Rumor has it Anthony Vaccarello will be showing Saint Laurent in New York. Sources close to the label revealed Vaccarello’s intention for a June 6th show in the city, though officially no statement has been made. The iconic French house coming to New York Fashion Week in June–the 2nd to the 6th as defined by the CFDA’s new schedule–brings with it lots of impetus for the week considering Alexander Wang’s previous announcement in January to stage his show in June. Vaccarello’s Spring 2018 show was backdropped by the Eiffel Tower for a dramatic effect, to say the least, so it can be imagined with his June location the designer will be looking to maintain that level of atmosphere.

I am thrilled to officially announce that today @NickBrown and I have launched IMAGINARY @imaginary , a $75 million venture fund that invests in early stage direct-to-consumer businesses at the intersection of retail and technology, backed by a collective of some of the world’s top business individuals and entrepreneurs. Online discovery and distribution platforms have made it easier than ever to launch a business but equally, it’s made it even more challenging for them to thrive for the long-term. The businesses that will endure will be those that build their strategies around an authentic understanding of their consumers and never lose sight of them as they grow. This is at the heart of all the emerging brands, platforms and retail solutions that we are investing in. Imaginary is actively investing across the beauty, wellness, food and beverage, lifestyle and fashion sectors, and we are proud to be launching with a strong portfolio of investments including Appear Here @AppearhereHQ, Daily Harvest @DailyHarvest, Dirty Lemon @DirtyLemon , Everlane @Everlane, Farfetch @Farfetch, Glossier @Glossier, Good American @GoodAmerican, Heist @Heiststudios , Hum @HumNutrition, Keeps @Keeps, Reformation @reformation and Universal Standard @UniversalStandard. We can’t wait to carry on growing our portfolio to support amazing founders and teams to realize their ambitions. We hope you will love these businesses and their products as much as we do! To find out more about them visit www.Imaginary.co and follow us on @Imaginary as we begin this exciting journey in the world of new consumer brands. These are the businesses that are going to change our lives, how we shop, what we eat, how we feel, what we wear and how we disrupt the world of retail for a new generation of consumers. On a personal note, I feel blessed to be able to support a new generation of inspiring entrepreneurs and businesses. I was lucky enough to have extraordinary angel investors and mentors giving me much needed funding and advice along my journey and it is a privilege to be able to return the favour. #ImaginaryFriends #imaginaryCompany

Karl Lagerfeld dismissing #Metoo prompts criticisms, calls for boycott
In an unsparing, rather merciless and frankly not-out-of-character interview for Numéro, Karl Lagerfeld made a slew of flippant remarks across the board bashing the #Metoo movements effect on the fashion industry and backlash quickly followed. In the conversation between the Chanel designer and Phillip Utz, Lagerfeld says regarding accusations against Karl Templar, “If you don’t want your pants pulled about, don’t become a model! Join a nunnery, there’ll always be a place for you in the convent. They’re recruiting even!” Of the movement, in general, he says, “I’m fed up with it. I don’t even eat pig.” The comment refers to France’s #Metoo equivalent #BalanceTonPorc. A many number of industry figures were quick to criticize and call for Chanel boycotts. Sara Ziff, founder of Model Alliance, wrote “Disgraceful comments by Karl Lagerfeld in an April 12th interview with Numéro Magazine underscore just how much work we still have to do. While not surprising (Lagerfeld is well known for offensive comments and body-shaming women for their weight and appearance), Lagerfeld’s assertion that models should “join a nunnery” if they don’t want their pants pulled down is, nonetheless, outrageous.” James Scully remarked on his Instagram, “Sadly Lagerfeld’s ignorance just perpetuates the cliche that people do this to advance careers and as usual unfairly blames victims. It’s this attitude of people in power that explains why victims can’t or won’t speak about abuse.”
