Untouched

Take away the airbrushing, the makeup team, the hair-stylists, the fancy clothes and what are you left with: just a model, a photographer and the power of an image. Viva London gets down to the nitty gritty, showing their superstars and fresh faces in unretouched portraits by Scott Trindle. Untouched, a refreshing exhibit, which opens tonight in London at Rochelle School of Art gives viewers an intimate look at girls like Natalia, Raquel, Edita and Kim Noorda. Trindle’s striking black and white photos are sure to get people talking. Take a look at our exclusive preview of the accompanying film and new never before seen images.

I’m not sure… I want to love this idea, but all the images are extremely unflattering. Not one girl looks truly at east and beautiful. Everyone is awkward/tired/puffy and have bad skin.

  2. anlabe says:

Oh my, this is really nice indeed. So fresh to not see make up and fancy hair for once.

  3. Mat says:

I LOVE THIS!!! Such a simple, beautiful idea. These girls are stunners.

  4. lind a says:

    universal youthfulness extremely impressive!

  5. MARCIN says:

    LOVE IT. PERFECT

  6. MARCIN says:

and i just fell in love with last girl !!!!

  7. julia says:

    So refreshingly beautiful to see!

  8. Alejandra says:

Pretty girls, but where is the diversity? Nearly all of these models are white with just 1 black model and 2 Asian models featured on the page, and just 1 Asian model featured in the video (for all of a split second when the other girls were shown repeatedly). If you’re trying to show real beauty, why not a more representative sample of what women really look like in this world?

  9. Wow, Edita has no limit to her beauty.

  10. Yes, very cute indeed. Loving Morgane. Familiar and reassuring while still looking somewhat fresh. I’d book her!

  11. dp says:

i love it, and i love that the lighting is harsh and the photos are in black and whit. all of these editorials that claim no makeup, etc are still too removed from reality. these have a certain rawness to them, and I still think that the je ne sais quoi of each of the models managesto come across.

  12. modellobello says:

OMG TRUE MODELS ARE TRULY SEEN WITHOUT MAKE UP!! THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL.. IT SCARED ME THOUGH CAUSE WHEN I WENT TO MODELS.COM AND SAW RAQUELS’S NUDE FACE WITH THE WORD “UNTOUCHED” I THOUGH SHE DIED. IM GLAD SHES STILL ALIVE!!! WOW THAT SCARED ME, SHE IS ONE OF MY FAVS!!

  13. Lou says:

to the comment above, are you kidding me ?

  14. Sheg says:

I can’t believe some of these comments! These pictures are stunning and so are the models (obivously). To call any of it ugly is just absurd. The rawness and purity gives the images a sublime beauty and truth that is breathtaking.

Ugh! I can’t believe anyone would call any of these photos ugly. That makes me sad.

  15. Michael says:

Really really nice. finnally raw beauty. and the video was too cute

  16. RICCARDO says:

i totally love the idea but they forced it a little too much. acne and bruises can only be overlooked on extremely beautiful ladies.but again only true beauties look fine in this very raw shots.luisa, anabel, kirsi, emily, edita are really standing up stronggg.what is really shocking is that i can also name way too many creatures that should be reported as painful to the eyes: kinee, aleksandra, joana, caroline, marie sophie, agathe, kirsty, anne marie.

  17. carola says:

imo the better looking are Emily Baker and Anna de Rijk. Stunning without makeup!

  18. carola says:

Oh I forgot to mention Laura Blokhina! So gorgeous!!

  19. chichappens says:

I’m so glad to see Eugenia, Morgane, Taryn, Flo, Kim and Ymre!

  20. adia says:

the girls are beautiful, but I have to agree with the original execution comment. Why does no one take an actual black and white picture anymore? Instead people light for color and do post switching. Imagine if these portraits contained any amount of true contrast. Imagine (gasp) if they had been shot with analog? The overall grayness and flatness of the digital outcome produces a very harsh effect and is neither flattering nor character enhancing. Instead of striking portraits they are…dull, and force the viewer to analyze every superficial flaw rather than be entranced by an image. How anyone that has seen Citizen Kane can call these images ‘black and white’ is beyond me.

  21. Titou says:

Fabu I think you are ignorant and completely missing the point. Yes one girl might look a little tired and yes another girl might have a little pimple but the beauty in these images are that the girls are natural. We are surrounded by horrible plastic airbrished images of girls who are not real they don’t exist like that anywhere! These girls wake up in the morning looking like this, they are beautiful and how wonderful to see them in this very pure way. Go Viva London!

  22. Afnansyah says:

wow.. amazed by how different Raquel can be without all the makeups 🙂

  23. Mosley says:

Wow I love the idea. It’s funny to me how some people on here don’t get it.
Some girls look all the same, forgettable and uncomfortable. I love the picture of Aleksandra, wow how different and yet stunning and she looks so interesting unlike not all of them.

  24. Mosley says:

    Karlina is a stunner!

  25. Very nice way to wake up today! Fresh

  26. A n n a b e l says:

    Beautiful. Love this

  27. Nádia says:

I’m loving this idea! I love to see a gorgeous natural picture, I love to see the flaws, the beauty of not being perfect! Some girl are looking totally breathtaking :O

  28. David says:

“.. love that the lighting is harsh” – eh, not it’s not! it’s a soft box to one side, a very common style of lighting used in fashion.
The images are really lovely, all the women look fantastic, I was especially happy to see a number of more mature models in the mix.

  29. Nova Agency says:

This is what it is all about…natural beauty!

  30. MissNicole says:

LOTS of DNA girls… what’s the connection?

  31. Misterix says:

    woooow!!!! Karlina looks AMAZING!!!!!

  32. E says:

Some of them look really tired. That’s not a bad thing, I just hope they get some sleep. 🙂
I can’t believe someone mentioned acne/bad skin. None of them have bad skin.

  33. Vladi says:

    Nice job !!!

  34. Katrine says:

    Anna de Rijk, you rock!!

  35. Courtney M says:

    Personally, I love this exhibition.
These images show the girls in the state they were discovered – before all the add-ons. These are the real models. It saddens me to see people uncomfortable and unenthusiastic about this series. Evidently, they are part of an audience who are so adjusted to the impossible perfection fed to them by the fashion industry that true, raw beauty is not a part of their celebration. This is beautiful: a woman with the courage to be photographed in her natural state, untouched by the world, when she is used to the polar opposite.

  36. fashionista says:

this just to show you, models are human they have flaws like us

  37. Christ Wei says:

    its beautiful

  38. Dr No says:

A celebration? Looks like the attendance of a fashion funeral. How wonderful…

What is most peculiar and mildly deceptive about this is that these are clearly retouched. Look at Natalia’s stomach for pete’s sake.

There a couple ok ones here and I really do want to like these but they just make me feel depressed. I want fashion to be different, to be real, but if this is what it looks like then I’m afraid it’s back to drawing board.

What this does expose is how the art of photography, lighting and posing has really suffered in the lazy digital world that photographers have become accustomed to and how overworked and detached these girls are.

    So who died? Maybe fashion.

  39. morning says:

We should accept that at least these are real, not the faces on magazines.

  40. Nico says:

    very nice video …!!!

  41. trumancapote says:

i m not proud of the moment we live when everything s so artificially edited by photoshop but this s still a business that should make people dream n btw since the first era of hollywood icons we know that those images weren’t real either…. i don’t really think that this work showcase any kind of talent photography wise since we have send this done some many times better.. n about the girls not 1 look like deserving the insane amount of money they make… i still adore Raquel cos if a beautiful skin was all we d have so many superstar ; )
btw i just wonder when will come the moment for really talented photographers

  42. Kesia says:

    True beauty

  43. Anjali says:

I thought the video was irritating. They’re all so self-conscious, hamming it up to look different from the next girl but they all end up looking the same.

  44. Yep, it’s normal people won’t all agree about something, and it’s even more predictable some will find something wrong about practically EVERYTHING – but general consideration, I’ve always thought: if you have to write something negative, at least be constructive (and polite).
Btw Codie, Emily, Kirsi and Linn are my fav…. in alphabetical order, of course… 🙂

  45. Jana says:

Ymre looks better au naturel than in some of her ads!

  46. Dan Nielsen says:

they’re all beautiful and amazing, but i was a little surprised to see Raquel amongst them…
