Rick Owens S/S 11
Posted by stephan | October 1st, 2010

As the industry’s go-to guy for leather jackets, warrior boots and deep dark drapery, Rick Owens has become the poster child for rigorous, hard-edged fashion. So much so that the light touch he showed for spring feels almost revolutionary; with this collection the prince of darkness shows his softer side and a surprisingly classical sensibility. Owens’ series of otherworldly gowns and striking monochromatic separates is as elegant as anything you’ll see in Paris this season – only with a Rick twist. From the angular bone combs that adorned models like crowns, to the skillful drapes on those austere dresses, you can practically feel Owens’ energy imbued in the fabric itself. The gothic and tribal touches he’s known for are still there, but this pared vision of refinement adds a new layer to his label’s appeal.

i think layers and flow should alternate and compliment each other according to the model’s body and the artist’s soul… sometimes fashion just looks silly to me… I don’t get the rick owens stuff… but i can see where the inspiration should have ben taken less literal on certain body parts… reminds me of when julie andrews decided to make the children’s play clothes in “the sound of music”. only she changed her mind and let them wear drapes… but who am I?

Rick Owens is genius. This is truly great work from head to toe, and music. Looking forward to seeing more with color.

Oh, I love the edginess in theese. We have the perfect model in norway for these clothes, I would have loved to shoot theese as well. With her, she is like the alven queen, in a nightclub, something wich theese clothes kinda looks like. with the strong checkbones and flashing lights on the catwalk. …..
dreaming….
