Alexander Wang F/W 2012
Alexander Wang Fall/Winter 2012
If you had any doubts about Alexander Wang‘s status as crown prince of New York fashion week, his fall show should put those to rest. Wang unleashed a collection that thrived on ideas about mystery, transparency and power. With models wearing fishnet masks and glossy raincoats crafted from lacquered merino tweed, Wang crafted an urban armor that shielded his beauties from the perils of life and all those pit photographer flashbulbs. Wool featured in a variety of looks, with peroxide and jacquard knits adding unexpected textures to the familiar material. Hybrids and re-imaginings were the buzzwords of the evening; within the clothes and the casting. After a round of fresh faces marched across the mirrored set at Pier 94, the supermodels emerged from hiding and gave the audience a treat; ater all, it is not enough to put on a show – you have to give the fashionistas a spectacle. Gisele, Shalom, Karolina, Carmen and Frankie waltzed out to booming beat, pausing only to stare at their own reflections.

Wang will always be Wang! Structured, b&w color palette and super strong designs.
It’s also interesting that he brought some major models from the “past” – Gisele, KK, Shalom and Carmen.
