Glenn Martens to Exit Diesel After Six Years
Glenn Martens is leaving Diesel after six years as creative director, with his Spring/Summer 2027 collection, set to debut next week during Milan Fashion Week, marking his final outing for the Italian brand. Martens joined Diesel in 2020 and helped reposition the label for a new generation, bringing an experimental approach to denim alongside large-scale runway spectacles and campaigns that pushed the brand’s irreverent identity forward. His departure comes as he continues as creative director of Maison Margiela, a role he assumed in 2025 following John Galliano’s exit. Diesel has yet to announce Martens’ successor. [WWD]
Armani Selects Dario Vitale as Creative Director
A year after Giorgio Armani’s death, the Armani Group has now named Dario Vitale as creative director of Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani Accessories, making him the first person from outside the Armani family to hold a creative role of this significance at the house. Vitale spent 14 years at Miu Miu, rising to design director of ready-to-wear and head of image, before a brief and abrupt tenure at Versace that lasted just one season following The Prada Group’s acquisition of the house. His appointment is described by the group as the beginning of a new chapter, with Silvana Armani and Leo Dell’Orco continuing to oversee the principal collections. “Armani possesses a powerful legacy and an unmistakable stylistic language,” he said. “I approach this challenge with a strong sense of responsibility and great enthusiasm.” [WWD]

The British Fashion Council announced its nominees for The Fashion Awards 2026 on Tuesday, with the ceremony set for November 30 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The Designer of the Year shortlist is Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row, Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford, Matthieu Blazy for Chanel, Michael Rider for Celine, and Sarah Burton for Givenchy. Burton is nominated in two categories, also appearing in the British Womenswear Designer shortlist alongside Clare Waight Keller for Uniqlo, Erdem Moralioglu MBE, Louise Trotter for Bottega Veneta, and Simone Rocha. Rocha also appears in the British Menswear category alongside Foday Dumbuya for Labrum London, Kiko Kostadinov, Nick Wakeman for Studio Nicholson, and Simon Holloway for Dunhill. Bob Mackie Dies at 87
Bob Mackie died on September 15 at 87. The Emmy and Tony-winning costume designer spent more than six decades dressing the women who defined entertainment’s most spectacular moments; Cher, Carol Burnett, Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli, Diana Ross,Tina Turner, Donna Summer, and Dolly Parton, among many others. Born in Monterey Park, California, he began sketching at Paramount Studios before building a career synonymous with showbiz glamour, sequins, feathers, crystals, sheer panels. His partnership with Cher, which began when she was 19 and lasted for decades across television and Broadway, was the defining creative relationship of his career. “I met Bob when I was 19. It was truly love at first sight,” Cher said in 2019. “Sometimes we don’t even have to talk, we just know.” In recent years his influence extended to a new generation, with Miley Cyrus, Zendaya, Sabrina Carpenter, and Taylor Swift all turning to his archive. “He lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a fashion and costume designer, which is all he ever wanted to do,” read the statement from his family. Krisztián Éder Launches Light Exercises for the Spirit
Hungarian photographer Krisztián Éder launches his new photobook Light Exercises for the Spirit on September 18, published by Witty Books. The 112-page hardcover, edited and art directed by Tommaso Parrillo with graphic design by Ilaria Miotto, brings together photographs made between 2016 and 2025, moving across family photographs, portraits, landscapes, and everyday observations. Rather than following a single project or chronology, the book unfolds through association, images echoing across sequences, years, and emotional states. “The book grew out of a need to process the events that shaped these years, and the ways they altered my understanding of time, intimacy and home,” Éder writes. Brad Johns Dies at 70
Brad Johns, the hair colorist who helped define the look of the 90s, died on August 27 at his home in West Hollywood. He was 70 and had been battling prostate cancer for several years. Vogue called him the “Color Czar.” His most famous client was Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, whose platinum blonde became one of the most referenced looks of the decade. He also worked with Christy Turlington, Kate Moss, and Natasha Richardson, among others. Johns retired from hairdressing in 2019 and moved to Los Angeles, where he painted, and wrote his memoir, Dye: A Memoir of Art, Music, Faith, Family and Hair Color. He is survived by family.
