Devyn Garcia Is Having the Season She Was Destined For

Count Devyn Garcia’s covers and the case makes itself: Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, i-D, V Magazine, HommeGirls that’s eighteen cover credits and climbing. Add in the names behind the camera along the way—Zoë Ghertner, Mario Sorrenti, Ethan James Green, Inez and Vinoodh—plus a Victoria’s Secret run substantial enough to make her a fixture, and her career reads like a fated ascent, backed by the best in the business. Since Models.com tipped the Miami-born curve model as a rookie to watch in 2021, Garcia has picked up a Breakout Star nomination, a 2024 Model of the Year nod, and spots on both the Top 50 and Money rankings. Her runway record has kept pace, with more than 100 shows and counting, with this season already reinforcing her continued trajectory: Altuzarra, Proenza Schouler, Tory Burch, and, yes, Michael Kors—the house that dressed her for this year’s Met Gala and, decades earlier, put her mother, Jennie Pickens, on its runway in the ’90s. For the latest MDX cover story, Garcia steps away from the runway and runs around New York, giving us a closer look at the model behind the work. Shot by director Will Pippin, Garcia joins Models.com for a much-needed day off before heading overseas for the next leg of fashion month.
