Lucie and Luke Meier Exit Jil Sander
After nearly a decade shaping Jil Sander’s modern identity, husband and wife duo Lucie and Luke Meier are stepping away from the brand. The news came immediately following their F/W 25 show in Milan, marking the end of an era defined by their meticulous craftsmanship and commitment to Jil Sander’s minimalist DNA. The Meiers first met in Florence while studying at Polimoda. Luke became design director at Supreme before founding OAMC, while Lucie worked at Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga before stepping in as interim creative director at Dior following Raf Simons’ departure. When they took the helm at Jil Sander in 2017, they ushered in a new chapter—one that honored the house’s sharp tailoring and precision. Throughout their tenure, they emphasized craftsmanship at the highest level, working closely with artisans and makers to elevate Jil Sander’s collections. Under their direction, the brand not only maintained its status but also experienced significant commercial growth, expanding its global footprint with 18 new store openings worldwide. Reflecting on their departure, Lucie shared a message on Instagram saying,”Luke and I are touched to have presented our last collection for Jil Sander after 8 years with the house. We want to thank everyone that has been involved and contributed their skill, creativity, and energy. We are so proud of all we have achieved together, and even more proud of the wonderful friendships we have made.” [Wallpaper]
Hollywood Mourns the Loss of Celebrity Hairstylists Jesus Guerrero and Graham Nation
Celebrity hairstylist Jesus Guerrero, known for his work with Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Kali Uchis, Charli xcx, Rosalía, and more, has died at the age of 34, according to his family. The news of Guerrero’s passing comes as the Hollywood beauty community continues to mourn the loss of Graham Nation, hairstylist to Demi Moore, Emma Chamberlain, and Catherine O’Hara, among many others, who died in Los Angeles on February 14 at age 39. Both talents were represented by The Wall Group. Born and raised in Houston, Guerrero became a Los Angeles staple, leaving a lasting impact on the industry. Longtime collaborator and makeup artist Ariel Tejada paid tribute to Guerrero, saying: “There’s a lot to learn from Jesus—not only his insane talent, which most of you have come to know him for, but also his humility, his compassion, his resilience, his drive, and the joy he brought into every room he entered. There was no one like you, Jesus, and there never will be.” Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Nation was another key figure in the beauty industry, known for his work alongside his partner, makeup artist Tonya Brewer, with whom he shared a son. Reflecting on his legacy, makeup artist Katarina Klein said, “One of the greatest, most supportive friends I’ve ever known. We will never forget you. Thank you for being such a bright light in all our lives—for the laughs, the love, and the lessons you left behind. Your impact will live in our hearts forever. 🖤 Rest easy, my friend. You will be deeply missed.” [Vogue]
The Virgil Abloh Foundation Selects Dana Loatman as Its First Executive Director
The Virgil Abloh Foundation, founded to carry forward the creative and philanthropic vision of the late designer and entrepreneur Virgil Abloh, has named Dana Loatman as its first executive director. In this role, she will continue Abloh’s mission of breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for underrepresented youth in creative fields. Loatman will oversee the foundation’s operations, strategic planning, and program development, as well as the preservation and activation of the designer’s archives, ensuring his legacy continues to inspire and empower future generations. Loatman most recently served as senior director and chief of staff for external affairs at the Obama Foundation from 2016 to 2024, where she worked closely with Barack and Michelle Obama on their post-White House social impact initiatives. Earlier in her career, she served as an adviser to Obama Foundation CEO Valerie Jarrett and built the Corporate & Foundations Partnerships team, securing over $100 million in funding from Apple, Nike, AT&T, the NBA, Google, ESPN/Disney, BET, Sony Music, Pepsi, the Ford Foundation, and more—all dedicated to advancing racial and gender equity while investing in the next generation of leaders. With growing political efforts to roll back DEI programs, Loatman was asked how this might impact the foundation’s work. She said, “We can’t ignore the news cycle. Shannon (Abloh) and I see this as a huge moment for the foundation to double-down on this impact and mission. It is an opportunity to further our impact, and we recognize that the work becomes more important now than ever because we can’t look to government to rely on or creating that access or breaking down those barriers. We have philanthropy and we have a foundation here, and we want to ensure that young creatives of color have that access and have those resources during this time.” [WWD]
