Ferragamo’s Dance with Design For F/W 25

Maximilian Davis continues to explore movement and choreography as central themes in his work at Ferragamo. Last season, for his S/S 25 show, he drew inspiration from ballet—particularly choreographer Katherine Dunham. This season, Pina Bausch served as his muse, and the set design reflected this, with red rose petals scattered across the runway, a direct nod to Bausch’s Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina performance, where a mountain of petals created an atmosphere of dark romance. Cast by Mischa Notcutt and Sivan Currie, Karolin Wolter opened the show in a monochrome hazelnut bodysuit layered beneath a trench coat and styled with two of Ferragamo’s signature Hug bags—worn as a belt—paired with fur-strapped flip-flops, a standout accessory throughout the collection. Flowers, a recurring motif in Ferragamo’s archives, resurfaced as subtle embellishments. The collection balanced fluidity with structure, featuring high-collared jersey and knit dresses sculpted to follow the body’s rhythm, a dark chestnut feather-trimmed gown with asymmetrical draping, and tasseled crochet dresses with coral and black floral embellishments, the latter seen on Mona Tougaard, who closed the show. Davis continues to evolve Ferragamo’s identity, refining the house’s codes of elegance through movement and ease.
