Peter Do Debuts Menswear On His Own Time

Ask Peter Do and the designer will mention that his eponymous line has always had a unisex frame of mind. As the New York wunderkind continues to build on the solid foundation he laid out, Do has formally added menswear to his mostly monochromatic seasonal offerings for his latest Spring/Summer 2023 collection labeled, “TIME.” The Brooklyn-based Vietnamese-American designer explained in a press release, “I was thinking about how we always seem to be running out of time in this industry. As a designer and brand, we are always living in the future and never in the present. This collection marks a period where, for the first time in a while, I feel present; where I’ve slowed down to savour those important moments in life.”

With 60 looks, his signature tailoring was delivered in a muted color palette of black, white, grey, and neutrals with dialed-up design details of cutouts, sensually wrapped shirts, flowy, pleated skirts, and slashed slits on pants. Molded leather was a highlight and some looks were printed with digitally manipulated photos of sunsets and the New York skyline. An incidental collaboration with K-pop giant, SM Entertainment, Korea’s largest entertainment company, brought an unexpected opening from South Korean entertainer Jeno who led a cast including SM colleagues Smrookies‘ Shohei and Eunseok, models Mona Matsuoka, Barbara Valente, Noma Han, Steph Shiu, Tasha Tilberg and a handful of New York’s social scene of influencers and fashion creatives mixed into the Nicola Kast selected lineup. Photographer Peter Ash Lee, Wisdom Kaye, and Blake Abbie held their own amongst the model sect with a bold beauty look of sparkle brows keyed by Aaron de Mey and Jawara.
