As Borders Rise, Vogue Tears Them Down

Vogue seeks to smash the borders the world is swiftly putting up. Continuing their tradition of cover mega-castings, the U.S. edition tops itself with global editors-in-chief selecting the top fifteen models from around the world all shot by Tyler Mitchell for collectible covers. With a patchwork of global diversity clothed in Americana denim picked by Camilla Nickerson, Vogue declares ‘beauty without borders’ with a further investigation into the reality of the modeling world and fashion’s delay in diversifying. There were momentous visuals for all of the models involved but certain cover stars celebrated big wins with today’s unveiling; Adut Akech now solidifies her “big four” with this US edition; Kaia Gerber follows in Cindy’s footsteps; and Ugbad becomes the first hijab-wearing model to appear to land the US edition, all in Vera Wang, Celine, and Saint Laurent respectively. They’re joined by fellow Cover Club first-timers Adesuwa Aighewi, Anok Yai, Fran Summers, Jill Kortleve, Krini Hernandez, Mika Schneider, Nora Attal, Paloma Elsesser, and Ros Georgiou with Vittoria Ceretti, Liu Wen, and Imaan Hammam adding another notch to their belts (Hammam’s 4th).

Additionally, the inside editorial features 30 muses representing the 26 international editions of Vogue including Anna Ewers, Pooja Mor, Daniela Kocianova, Patrycja Piekarska, Pasha Harulia, Maria Miguel, Gia Tang, Mariam de Vinzelle, Kristina Grikaite, Kerolyn Soares, Fei Fei Sun, Öykü Baştaş, Miriam Sanchez, Sora Choi, and actress Angela Yuen.
