In just a few short years Rad Hourani has moved from upstart to phenom, his sleek and sometimes severe aesthetic garnering fans in all the right places and snatching up choice editorial space in magazines like Numero and Vogue Russia. For spring the Hourani look feels as fresh as ever in his Rad by Rad line, though the focus on unisex, seasonless clothing remains. Warmer weather allowed for hints of lightness, brought in via crisp white accents on jackets and tunics, but jet black reigned supreme, showing up in nearly every look. Other designers play to the whims of buyers, but Hourani knows what he likes and his exacting vision is part of what makes his collections so interesting. Skintight leather and black boots aren’t what we expect this time of year, but seeing them such finely crafted versions is a pleasure regardless of the season. Hourani even manages to tap into our need for immediacy, by offering admirers the chance to purchase looks moments after they were seen on the runway, how’s that for instant gratification.
