Derek Lam S/S 13

Classic American sportswear for the modern woman has always been Derek Lam‘s bread and butter. Lam has made his mark on the NYFW scene by crafting the kind of timeless, yet up to date clothing women love to wear and for spring he refined his focus, by tackling the idea of “modernism with unexpected warmth.” A novel concept and one that Lam, illustrated via madras plaid dresses, gabardine pullovers and lambskin pleats, done mostly in a verdant color palette of lime, citron and, jade. Pattern played a role too, with jacquards prints and stripes adding interest, while macrame accents in shimmering metallics provided a touch of the unexpected. On the accessories front Lam shined as per usual. Jewelry fans will take note of the chunky tassel bracelets made in collaboration with Pilar Olaverri, while the shoe obsessed are sure to gravitate towards those memorable booties that appeared with nearly every look.
