Anthony Vaccarello S/S 2015
SS15 has been a landmark season for Anthony Vaccarello. After steering Versus in a bold new direction during NYFW, Vaccarello made waves in Paris with a strong showing for his eponymous collection. With a gritty look that took the designer’s aggressively sensual aesthetic to the streets, Vaccarello provided the antidote to all things stereotypically spring. Who needs florals when you have thigh high slits, bared skin and enough leather to please discerning dominatrixes? This was Vaccarello in sportswear mode and it made for a collection with on the rack appeal. Nautical stripes and denim never fall out of favor and Vaccarello provided more than a few options, the coolest coming in the form of form-fitting suits on Sam Rollinson and Binx Walton. The leather jacket and matching asymmetrical skirt on Mica Arganaraz’s opening look seems destined to sell out and the inventive riffs on logo-mania will prove just as popular with the street style set. Vaccarello’s name found its way onto skirts, jackets and glossy minis, as did the word “spring.” In case you forgot that his collection was all about the ease and allure of carefree girls on holiday the bold face text served as an unsubtle yet oh so chic reminder.
