Backed by a top cast Matty Bovan is London’s new untamable designer
Lulu Kennedy’s Fashion East runway during London Fashion Week was a tour de Matty. While certainly the show housed plenty of collective talent between Supriya Lele and Asai, the Central Saint Martins graduate Matty Bovan, a fabric and color conceptualist, not only did what he does best–better, he and casting cohort Anita Bitton cranked up the model volume to a cool eleven. On Saturday’s show models like Edie Campbell (opened), Charlotte Free (closed), Jean Campbell, Grace Bol, Eliza Cummings and Lily Nova assembled for the occasion.
What makes his show so top model friendly? Frankly, Matty’s got it going on: His clothes are rollicking fun, the commotion at times nearly untamable and piece for piece there’s utterly endless editorial fodder. S/S 18 was the most concentrated Matty Bovan cocktail yet. A sip of that kind of originality is just what the soberly serious industry needs at times. What else, when Katie Grand is in your camp styling your show, celebrating you, it means something: pay attention. Easy. We couldn’t look away.

That asian model with short hair is Shujing Zhou, not Sohyun.
Thank you, we have corrected the credit.
