Every generation has one designer whose specialty revolves around the exploration of classicism. For the past few decades American fashion has been ruled by titans like Ralph Lauren and Oscar De La Renta, whose enviable careers serve as the inspiration for a new generation of artists like Jason Wu, Bibhu Mohapatra and of course Monique Lhuillier. For her inspired fall collection, Lhuillier explored elegance with a hint of sensuality; each outfit was sexy, but never in a way that was overt. Hints of skin peaking out through lace blouses, legs accentuated with spotted hose, waists cinched with strips of black ribbon; this was the Audrey Hepburn version of sultry and it worked beautifully on the catwalk.
