Sally LaPointe’s flair for drama was evident on her fall runway. Rather than submit to the season’s burgeoning grunge trend, or go for tried and true autumn knits, LaPointe headed into gothic territory with a collection that thrived on darkness. LaPointe’s fall look was a sumptuous mix of jet black wares, exoskeleton print dresses and stark separates served up in fiery crimson. As avant-goth as some of the selection got, the luxury element was never forgotten; after all inky hued jackets and form-fitting sweaters are always better with a touch of croc. Even camel colored numbers – which seemed staid in comparison to the to die for red segment – were spiced up with luxe touches of leather, suede and the occasional gold bangle.
