Top 50 Models
How the Top 50 Models list works
Clients set the bar for today's models and it's their choices that create coveted girls who are poised to become the next generation of supermodels. From the daily call sheets of top photographers (Meisel, Inez & Vinoodh, Mert & Marcus) to the steady bookings of editorial giants (Vogue, V, i-D, W) and powerhouse brands (Balenciaga, Prada, Vuitton, Calvin Klein) can be culled a clear message about who are the most wanted models of the moment.

In an increasingly competitive market, flooded with hundreds of "cool editorial girls", it's the campaigns and contracts that are the final index of how crucial a model is at any given moment. The models of the Top 50 have risen through the ranks and impressed designers, casting directors, photographers and more. Their combination of prestigious covers, choice campaign bookings and consistent blue-chip editorials sets them apart from their competitors. These beauties have proven themselves and are well positioned to graduate to one of the other major rankings and become future superstars.

The campaigns and covers counted here include only the ones booked in the last 12 months with top magazines and fashion & cosmetic brands.

When she had her fiery halo of curls she stood out from the rest of the crowd, but a big chop last year really made the fashion pack take notice. Since then, the Ghanian Brit has had one hell of a resurgence. Adwoa has spent the past twelve months on the ascent. With multiple covers (Love, i-D, Vogue Mexico, Vogue Espana, Document Journal) and campaigns (Versus, Sephora, Theory, Alexander Wang), this Brit ‘It Kid’ turned advocate is fast becoming fashion’s face (and voice) of her generation. All that and she still has time to inspire girls globally through her sisterhood organization Gurls Talk!

No flash in the pan, blue-eyed, British delight Fran Summers in the gen-u-ine thing. She got to Top 50 at breakneck speeds because, well, who couldn’t adore? That explains her latest campaign sweep–Bottega Veneta, Versace, Calvin Klein, Prada, Valentino, Chloe, Marc Jacobs–phew! A Vogue darling and multiple covers to her name, Fran’s magazine tears are the kind any model would kill for. Safe to say, fashion stans for Fran.

There’s a new Hadid in the spotlight and she’s ready for her close up. Bella has been able to create a lane all of her own with ad campaigns for clients like Marc Jacobs, Topshop, & Versace. The sultry star snagged an Allure cover and editorials for Self Service, CR Fashion Book, V, Love, and Vogue this season and her show season was even more impressive. Miu Miu, Chanel, and an exclusive spot at Givenchy on top of her great roster of show bookings last season was all that was needed to take her to the next level. Que Bella!

There’s no substitute for the real deal. Enter outright gorgeous Grace whose American, girl-next-door appeal has made fans of just the kind of well-heeled showrunners to put stock in a total package, like Victoria Secret who had the rookie open Pink Nation for their 2016 fashion show in Paris, following a solid S/S 17 show season: Topshop, Alberto Ferretti, Phillip Plein, Moschino, Bottega Venetta, Dolce & Gabbana and Giambattista. Now she faces Carolina Herrera’s S/S 2017 campaign lensed by Testino and her editorials read one Vogue after another–starting with US, but appearances in magazines like 10 and Love show she’s not all gloss.

Her next -level looks and selling power has already attracted Versace, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein and had her covering Vogue Paris, Love Magazine and Teen Vogue with her name big and bold. Photographers like Steven Meisel, David Sims, Paolo Rovers, and Craig McDean can’t seem to get enough of her steely gaze and lithe frame and the support has paid off. After a whirlwind of show seasons, she has continued to build her brand with ads for Prada, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Lanvin, and Coach and editorial appearance in Vogue, W, British Vogue, Vogue Paris, and a Self Service cover.

If you are the company you keep then Luna Bijl’s red-hotness is inarguably well-founded. Two Vogue Paris covers by David Sims–a period could go there, but Sims also photographed the motocrossing, kickboxing model for the cover of Self-Service. Besides being a Sims’ favorite, Bijl landed campaigns for Emporio Armani, Chloe, Mango and Zara and appeared on the choicest S/S 2017 catwalks like Alexander Wang, Fendi, Moschino, Lanvin, Balmain, Chanel, Miu Miu and Louis Vuittion.
