Top 50 Models
How the Top 50 Models list works
Clients set the bar for today's models and it's their choices that create coveted girls who are poised to become the next generation of supermodels. From the daily call sheets of top photographers (Meisel, Inez & Vinoodh, Mert & Marcus) to the steady bookings of editorial giants (Vogue, V, i-D, W) and powerhouse brands (Balenciaga, Prada, Vuitton, Calvin Klein) can be culled a clear message about who are the most wanted models of the moment.

In an increasingly competitive market, flooded with hundreds of "cool editorial girls", it's the campaigns and contracts that are the final index of how crucial a model is at any given moment. The models of the Top 50 have risen through the ranks and impressed designers, casting directors, photographers and more. Their combination of prestigious covers, choice campaign bookings and consistent blue-chip editorials sets them apart from their competitors. These beauties have proven themselves and are well positioned to graduate to one of the other major rankings and become future superstars.

The campaigns and covers counted here include only the ones booked in the last 12 months with top magazines and fashion & cosmetic brands.

When she had her fiery halo of curls she stood out from the rest of the crowd, but a big chop last year really made the fashion pack take notice. Since then, the Ghanian Brit has had one hell of a resurgence. Adwoa has spent the past twelve months on the ascent. With multiple covers (Love, i-D, Vogue Mexico, Vogue Espana, Document Journal) and campaigns (Versus, Sephora, Theory, Alexander Wang), this Brit ‘It Kid’ turned advocate is fast becoming fashion’s face (and voice) of her generation. All that and she still has time to inspire girls globally through her sisterhood organization Gurls Talk!

There’s a new Hadid in the spotlight and she’s ready for her close up. Bella has been able to create a lane all of her own with ad campaigns for clients like Marc Jacobs, Topshop, & Versace. The sultry star snagged an Allure cover and editorials for Self Service, CR Fashion Book, V, Love, and Vogue this season and her show season was even more impressive. Miu Miu, Chanel, and an exclusive spot at Givenchy on top of her great roster of show bookings last season was all that was needed to take her to the next level. Que Bella!

Top model meets stunning bombshell! Ashley Graham has demanded the respect of the industry's lack of inclusivity and has finally made her high fashion full push. Nabbing a monumental British Vogue cover at the top of the year an American Vogue cover soon followed. Add editorial spreads in V Magazine shot by Steven Klein, ads for Sephora and H&M, and the continual support by Sports Illustrated it’s (finally!) her time to shine!

With one of the fastest ascensions, this Croatian stunner only needs one name to go by...and it’s Faretta. Photographers like Steven Meisel, David Sims, Paolo Rovers, and Craig McDean can’t seem to get enough of her steely gaze and lithe frame and the support has paid off. After a whirlwind of show seasons, she has continued to build her brand with ads for Prada, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Lanvin, and Coach and editorial appearance in Vogue, W, British Vogue, Vogue Paris, and a Self Service cover.

This Californian dream has been on a whirlwind journey since her debut opening slot walking for Proenza Schouler. Since her debut, she’s locked down back to back ads for the brand along with DKNY, covers for i-D & The New York Times Style, and not to forget editorial spots in Vogue Italia and Dazed. Selena keeps on rocking with American Vogue, Prada, YSL, and Calvin Klein all clocking this Californian’s low key cool.

The unstoppable Ruth came, cut (her hair), and conquered. Her ascent first began in the Alexander Mcqueen A/W15 campaign by David Sims. From there, the buzzed, baby-faced beauty became as wanted as the day is long. By 2016 Ruth became a ubiquitous face in slick editorials (Vogue US, Vogue Italia, Harper’s US, Garage, V, i-D, Vogue Paris, the list goes on) and campaigns to boot like Zara, Jason Wu and Burberry Prorsum, the upshot of topping industry wish-lists.

After being minted as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, Taylor Hill’s stock has soared through the roof. And though she certainly earned her wings with sexiness, there’s more to the American model than meets the eye. Campaigns of late, including Miu Miu, Michael Kors and multiple VS ads prove she can look expensive. But covers for Vogue Paris, Vogue Mexico, Vogue España and pages in Love Magazine, Dazed, Document and Self-Service mean she can transform across the board.

There’s been one name on many lips and it’s been Dilone. The native New Yorker infectious smile and stunning looks have captured the hearts of many in the business and allowed for her to continue to conquer, with notable walks at shows like Celine, Balmain, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, and Fendi. But it’s Dilone’s utter model moxie that delivered her a top-notch profile: Campaign bookings for Stella McCartney, Balmain and Versace, an Allure and 10 Magazine cover story with editorials in Vogue Italia, Garage, and W sealed the deal.

Estella made a major breakthrough as the only girl in Miu Miu’s Pre Fall 2015 campaign. But far from fading back into obscurity after such a strong first showing, this distinctive Dutchwoman has gone from strength to strength, locking down bookings for Marc Jacobs, MCM and Prada campaigns, as well as pristine editorial appearances and a Vogue Italia cover. Such a stellar resume well and truly confirms that Estella’s star is on the rise.

Covering Vogue Germany, two consecutive Vogue China issues and editorials in nearly the gamut of Vogues from American to Paris make her a wanted work of art.

Through shifting fads and faces Giedre Dukauskaite proves her appeal is everlasting and better than ever. The Lithuanian model’s winsomeness gives her major high fashion currency. This translates to being an obvious go-to for brands like Valentino, Prada, Celine and Repossi for campaigns and nabbing spreads in Vogue (Paris, Italia, Australia), Another, W, Pop and covers for 032c and Le Monde. Being picked by notoriously picky photographers like Sims, Luchford, Teller, Ghertner and Vandeperre is just the icing on Giedre’s cake.

Now–demand is at full-blaze, with 2016 seeing her in campaigns for Dsqaured2, Marc Jacobs, Versus Versace and Peutery. What’s more, her steady presence is impossible to ignore in the pages of Love, i-D, Numero, V and Vogue Paris.
