Contemporary while inviting, they strike a thoughtful balance between architectural precision and comfort, with marble floors, spacious bathrooms, and many opening onto private terraces, the perfect place to enjoy an early morning espresso while winning the battle against jet lag. I stayed in one of the hotel’s Deluxe Rooms, whose private balcony overlooked Milan’s rooftops, becoming my favorite place to ease into the morning before heading out to agency appointments or unwind after a full day across the city. Upstairs, the rooftop pool offers one of Milan’s most striking panoramas, stretching across the skyline, while the gym provides a welcome reset after days spent racing between flights, appointments, and presentations. At FIVE, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, breakfast, lunch, and evening cocktails are all served against the same sweeping views, while Bar Calimala Café and the intimate Salon offer equally inviting spaces to settle in for a coffee, glass of wine, or pre-dinner drink before heading back into the city.
One of Calimala’s greatest strengths is that the neighborhood does the rest of the work for you. Start your morning with a browse through Shop the Story, the vintage destination directly across the street where archival Yohji Yamamoto, Martin Margiela, Comme des Garçons, and elusive runway treasures have made it a pilgrimage for fashion insiders. A favorite of Paloma Elsesser, it’s the sort of place where a quick look can unexpectedly become the highlight of your whole trip.

When appointments begin to stack up, Via Montenapoleone is only a short journey away. Even if your schedule leaves little room for shopping, wandering past the Saint Laurent and Le Silla boutiques provides its own form of inspiration. As evening arrives, slip back toward Porta Venezia for aperitivo at Sant Ambroeus Milano, where a perfectly made Negroni and generous spread of small bites feel almost mandatory after a day of meetings. A few streets away, Fiorin Fiorello Vinyl Bar delivers a more intimate soundtrack, pairing natural wines and cocktails with carefully curated vinyl selections that make lingering feel inevitable.
For dinner, Milan offers two equally compelling moods. Bice remains a city institution, attracting designers, executives, and visiting editors looking for impeccable Milanese classics served without unnecessary fanfare. If you’re after something more contemporary, Yapa has quickly become a favorite among the fashion crowd, blending Peruvian and Japanese influences into vibrant Nikkei dishes that are ideal for sharing after a long day of shows. During Fashion Week, both restaurants are as much about the people-watching as what’s on the table.
And if the night still feels young, no one will blame you for taking the long way home. A stroll through Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II after the crowds have thinned offers one of Milan’s most rewarding rituals. Continue toward the illuminated Duomo, where the marble façade glows against the evening sky, reminding you that even after a full day immersed in fashion, this city always finds another way to impress.
