Cruise Control: Sophie Theallet

Blanca Li

For Sophie Theallet‘s latest offering for cruise, she focused on the indomitable power of the woman. Her influence for the season came from “women of every culture. As a woman we have all kinds of different bodies and our inspiration came from a diverse range of women like Romy Schneider, Rossy de Palma, Billie Holiday, Beyonce.” The dynamic women from old and new all had a common thread, sensuality. Stylist Jenke Tailly brushed on the underlying carnality of their influences, “all these women that exude the power through their femininity and sexuality and these clothes are made for a woman that really enjoys being a woman. Truly excepting the curves that she has but the pieces aren’t explicit. There are looks that are completely covered but perfectly cut so the body still shines through.” And what did show closer and choreographer of Robots, Blanca Li, have to say about the collection? “These are clothes for real women — it’s not just something you see on models that is beautiful but I can’t wear it. It makes you feel good about yourself and they instantly become part of you. It’s almost like your body adapts to it whether big, small, tall or short. I would love to run in the street and dance in this forever!”
