(UPDATE Pt.3 Teaser Video) Jeffrey Fashion Cares: The Casting

Andrew Weir shoots Vincent Lacrocq. Photo and story by Jonathan Shia

Shoppers at Jeffrey yesterday were given a special sneak peek at Monday’s Jeffrey Fashion Cares event (see our exclusive preview of the casting here) when Andrew Weir and ACW held their first day of fittings at the immaculate store on the far reaches of the meatpacking district. The board was packed with huge names, ranging from supermodels who have been working for nearly a decade to the season’s hottest faces. “The people pay a lot of money and the want to see the recognizable guys,” Weir explained between models. “They like to see a group of guys that they know and really go crazy for.” That meant blue-chip names like Doug Pickett and Vincent Lacrocq, as well as newer guys, like Sean Harju and David Agbodji, with a number of campaigns and iconic editorials under the belts already. Weir said that the look veered toward “older, bigger, masculine” models, which made the fittings crucial. “It’s a good thing we’re not using sample sizes,” he joked. Weir explained that in his seven years working on the project, he has come to really believe in the event, which benefits four organizations working in the LGBT community—GMHC, Lambda Legal, the Point Foundation, and the Hetrick-Martin Institute. “When you get to my age,” he said, “it’s more important to give back.” Still, the job is not without its lighter moments. “It’s hard to focus when you’re working here,” Weir laughed, rubbing the leather on a Balmain boot, “because you just want to shop.”
