Marchesa Fall/Winter 2011

Posted by janelle | February 23rd, 2011

With the Academy Awards only days away and red carpet anticipation riding high the Marchesa label is at its most relevant. Designers Georgina Chapman and Karen Craig specialize in creating moments worthy of cinematic spectacle. Their tiered ballgowns and frothy tulle evening gowns come imbued with the kind of instantaneous wow factor that leaves onlookers gasping. Indeed the oohs and aahs at Wednesday’s presentation were audible. Guests marveled at the ornate detailing, the layers of lace, crystal, marabou, sequins and more – there was almost too much baroque goodness to digest. Though Chapman and Craig aren’t minimalists, they do understand the importance of restraint; the clean color palate and edgy touches like snakeskin pants, kept this explosion of femininity from being overwhelming.

The 7th pics look, is to die for. Chills. Still an expensive looking woven but not stiff like some of the other horrid garbs designers put out when trying to be rich glam. When ‘she’ wears it on the carpet; take off the choker and keep the clutch would be my advice. Of course everything else looks fine but lace and tulle/carpet tulle have been a bit consistent lately…
