How did Trump end up as your NY destination of choice?
I had just left another agency in NY that I had been with. Things were OK but not going all that fast. I spoke to my mother agent. And she wanted me to switch. She made a bunch of appointments around NY. I went to see 5 agencies and Trump was the one I liked the most. I thought they were the most enthusiastic.

In terms of their response to you?
Yes. And that was a little under a year ago.

Then Trump President Jon Tutulo emails us your Polaroids which we adored and started to blurb you in Of The Minute as our favorite gamine. Which leads us to your infamous gamine story.
So my friends see your write-up and you keep using the expression "gamine". So they're like "What is a gamine" So they look it up on dictionary.com. One description is "a little elf" and the other one is "an impish freak that roams the streets at night. It's technically one of the definitions. So now all my friends are like "Been roaming the streets lately Lisa?" Now they call me gamine in emails.

From Impish Freak to Alien Bug Queen. How did all this name calling start?
(lol) There was an article in the NY Times that I got a hold of about the new trends in fashion and models. In the last paragraph it mentioned girls like me, Gemma and Heather are being described by other models as "The Bugs" because of our large foreheads and big eyes.

Maybe you should form a gang with them and terrorize the backstage wearing those Chanel bug sunglasses from two years ago.
They're really nice girls. Nothing outer space about them. I've worked a lot with Caroline Trentini. She's so sweet. I've worked a lot with Gemma in LA. She's very nice. Jessica Stam is cool. Heather and I are from the same city so there's a connection there. Heather being Heather Marks .We are both from Calgary so it's always nice talking with her.

Did you ever imagine that "alien" would be your description?
Oh yeah. I got that growing up. I look the same as I did growing up. When I was younger I was tiny tiny tiny. I was so short and so tiny that all my features were exaggerated. I had a bigger forehead and bigger eyes. Kind of out of scale. So I was very aware of that. My sisters usually pointed that out.

What's the hometown reaction been?
It's funny. I had been working quite a bit though nothing had come out. And then Cosmo Girl came out with an 8-page editorial and then one of my friends bought it and showed it someone at school who happened to be the daughter of a teacher who had taught me in the 10 th grade. The teacher got so excited she had these huge posters made and put them up in the foyer of the school with a whole article. So my parents who had seen the shoot didn't realize the whole community had seen it too. People were coming up to them and talking to them about "their model daughter". She was like "How did you find out?" My first Italian Vogue cover, I emailed to some friends then other people that I hadn't emailed were contacting me to tell me they had seen the pictures. And e-mailing the picture back to me.

It's like a Lisa Cant chain mail! Has your life changed a lot in the past six months?...
