Agreed. What's funny is  when we travel to these trade shows ...we go to these trade shows as a group,. All these designers from all over the world  take this one train out to the fabric shows...you've got the Italians here and the Germans there..the French over there and I don't even have to listen for an accent to spot the English.  They just have the look . I  admire that.

Its all about the packaging y'know! In much the same way that an influential crowd of young fashionista(Melanie Ward, Dick Page, Guido Palau)aligned itself around Helmut Lang a similar process seems to be happening around Kenneth Richard.  You have people like stylist Stephan Campbell,...

Stephan's been working with us for the past two seasons..

Carlos Taylor doing casting...

Carlos  came on board this season ...(hairstylist)Bob Recine we've always used:  (make-up artist) Lynn Russell we've been using for the past three seasons...I have had the tendency to work with the same people. They sort of understand where you've been and where you're going. I have a high amount of loyalty to the people that I work with. The stylist/designer relationship is a very unique one. For the first four years of my business I didn't utilize a stylist at all. I have seasons where I feel I need a stylist and I have other seasons where the vision is so powerful that I feel that I don't.  It really just depends on what that season is. We have brought in  a team  of people that we work with however and the feeling is always that that team is flexible but we just  haven't deviated.  It wasn't by design. It wasn't some master plan.

Young designers are being swept up left right and centre into head positions at some very established European houses. Do you see yourself going in this direction?

I just wrapped up a month and a half of interviewing for Ferragamo.... But I'm not going to do it, I'm going to stay independent. I was very flattered though.  I didn't really  think they'd have been so interested . It was my first call of that nature. and it went really really well.
