Supers Men
How the Supers Men list works
The male supermodel is an elusive commodity. In a business where boys can burn out fast the guys who stay in the game have something special. More than good looks or chiseled abs, these guys boast professionalism, repeat bookings and the kind of mega-contracts that only a select few ever get. With years of experience and multi-faceted careers that can extend into acting, hosting and occasionally music, these boys prove that versatility and charm can take you everywhere.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- At least 7 years of high profile work with top magazines, photographers and brands.
- Media presence outside of the fashion industry.
- Work that is considered iconic in nature i.e.. campaigns, covers & television commercials.
- Must have had at least one long term contract

The Swedish sensation exploded onto the modeling scene with the compelling blend of rugged good looks and winning personality. His versatility and professionalism combined with one of the best physiques in the business appealed to a whole range of clients, from Versace, Guess and Lagerfeld to Hugo Boss. One of the first of the male supermodels of the 90's, Alex remains to this day, a fixture in an industry that remains loyal to those who can always deliver the "shot".

Reputation is a careful mix of visibility and longevity, and Brad has both in spades. In the industry since starting off with Abercrombie & Fitch in 2002, this handsome Midwesterner is the picture of all-American masculinity and gets his high-fashion credibility from serving as Karl Lagerfeld’s favorite for years on end, with a range of fans from the Gap and Tommy Hilfiger to Chanel and Fendi and a place in fashion history with cameos in Lagerfeld Confidential and his very own multi-volume tome of portraits. Now well-established as one of the foremost faces in the game, he also has the distinction of being father to one of Lagerfeld’s new stars in his son Hudson. How’s that for a legacy?

Instagram has taken over the fashion industry of late, but Chabernaud's impressive body of work is proof of the value of doing things the old-fashioned way. Rather than shirtless selfies and workout videos, the Frenchman has built a career on quality and perseverance, continuing to walk top shows every season at a point when most others would have quit long ago. Edgy labels like Prada, Jil Sander, Valentino, and Gucci were early fans, while mass-market brands like H&M and the Gap have kept him going for years. Having been snapped by nearly every major photographer—Inez & Vinoodh, Willy Vanderperre, and David Sims are all repeat customers—it's hard to imagine there's anything left he hasn't accomplished yet, although we are eagerly awaiting him to prove us wrong.

Inevitable was Mr Gandy's place on MDC's top icons list. In a scant few years, there may be no other man who's made an impression like him in the public's consciousness. As the only male model to front a solo Details cover in recent memory, as the ongoing face of Dolce & Gabbana's multiple lines, a Youtube channel, videos, a column for British Vogue and more, the juggernaut effect of brand Gandy is seemingly unstoppable.

In Tom Ford's 2009 movie A Single Man, Colin Firth's George is seduced by a hustler whose rolled-up t-shirt sleeves and messy pompadour bring to mind no less than the iconic James Dean. For many moviegoers, this was their first introduction to Kortajarena, who was already a familiar face to fashion insiders. A favorite of the late Karl Lagerfeld and Ford as well, who cast him in a number of ads, the Spaniard has been scoring top-notch covers and campaigns for over a decade. With numerous fragrance campaigns in recent years, it's clear that Kortajarena remains at the top of his league, and with his Spanish-language acting career taking off, the rest of the world is ready to discover him as well.

With a slew of campaigns that have gone down in history and a nearly flawless slate of editorial work Mark Vanderloo is the gold standard of male modeling. You name it, he has done it - Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Giorgio Armani - every major booking there is. As one of the original 90s male supermodels Vanderloo, has emerged as last man standing with a name, that still stands for professionalism, dedication and unrivaled presence. With his DKNY fragrance campaigns and ongoing editorials in V, Vogue Italia and GQ introducing his face to a whole new generation of fashion addicts, Vanderloo has transcended the limitations of the industry wide youth obsession and cemented himself as an enduring icon.

With his ruggedly handsome good looks and all-American athletic appeal, it’s no surprise the big names keep coming back to Noah. As the face of Michael Kors and Dolce & Gabbana for several years, he is nearly ubiquitous in magazines and on billboards, and his recent forays into acting—with roles in Sex and the City 2 and 2 Broke Girls—have only added to his fame. And with over fifty thousand followers on social media, he has the kind of reach that will ensure he stays in demand for years to come.

More importantly he looms as one of the great memorable presences in men's modeling. Here's to a definitive long distance runner.

Ever since his start more than a decade ago, this fresh-faced, curly-haired Canadian has balanced edgy editorials with high-end campaigns, proving his versatility in an industry that often likes to set boundaries. From early ads for everyone from Givenchy and the Gap to Versace and Ralph Lauren to covers for Hercules, Hero, and Details, it's no wonder Vogue Hommes named him a supermodel on its Fall 2018 cover. Nessman reached the top of the industry in 2014 when he became the face of Armani's Acqua di Gio fragrance, a rare honor that is seen as one of the most prestigious bookings in fashion. In recent years, he has focused on a research facility he has been running off the coast of British Columbia for environmental scientists, putting his visibility to use for a very important cause.

When asked to name a male supermodel today, the person on the street's choice is still almost always Tyson Beckford. This, after 20 years in the industry, proves his longevity and popular appeal. His two decade career started with work for Ralph Lauren and was followed by much recognition outside the fashion industry (VH1 and People Magazine) and work with television (ABC and Bravo channels). This fall's Polo campaign, coming on the 20th year anniversary of his first campaign for them prove that his iconic beauty is timeless and still very much in demand. Tyson just may be one of the most recognizable male supermodels ever.
