Founded by creative directors Lee Swillingham and Stuart Spalding, SUBURBIA has been defining the visual language of fashion and culture for more than twenty years. They current serve as Executive Creative Directors at Harper's Bazaar Italia as of 2024.
Their editorial careers have spanned across re-energising the legendary The Face magazine in the nineties, to co-creating the equally influential Pop & Love magazines.
In April 2024 the creative duo were named Executive Creative Directors at Harpers Bazaar Italy.
Suburbia has created iconic campaigns for Gucci, Loewe, Salvatore Ferragamo, Miu Miu, Diesel as well as global giants the likes of Rolex, Zara, H&M, MAC Cosmetics and Apple.
Their slate of celebrity collaborations in both the commercial and editorial realms span to include globally renowned icons such as Rihanna, Angelina Jolie, Billie Eilish and Tilda Swinton as well as long standing relationships with the likes David Beckham, Dua Lipa and Beyonce.
They have been featured in the Sunday Times, the New York Times and the Guardian — and awarded by The Society of Publication Designers, The Art Directors Club of New York and D&AD, and since the early stages of their careers have collaborated regularly with the industry's top image makers and creatives including Steven Meisel, Craig McDean, David Sims, Glen Luchford, Mikael Jansson, Mert & Marcus, Inez & Vinoodh, Karl Templer, Katie Grand and Joe McKenna.
In 2020 Swillingham and Spalding were appointed Creative Directors-At-Large at British Vogue by ground-breaking editor Edward Enninful, to help redefine today’s modern and diverse fashion conversation.
London based, SUBURBIA continues to collaborate with clients worldwide in the fashion, luxury and beauty spaces on campaigns, visual identity & typography and branding strategy.
