Yesterday the British Fashion Council announced its 15 NEWGEN recipients for 2017 and 2018. Apart from praises being sung, under the wing of the Council incubation includes “financial, showcasing, business and mentoring support through the BFC and an external network of partners and mentors.” The pack includes many of London’s best and brightest new design talent who have been quickly emerging as must-haves on stylists and editors wish-lists. It includes already familiar names: Wales Bonner, Charles Jeffrey’s LOVERBOY, Phoebe English MAN, and for the first time includes both womenswear and menswear in one. The program, started in 1993, boast an impressive track record in supporting some of fashion’s nearest and dearest like Alexander McQueen, Simone Rocha, Matthew Williamson, Craig Green and Christopher Kane, Richard Nicoll and more.
