How do you do natural without veering into mundane territory? The beauty look Derek Lam answers this question with subtly colorful makeup by Tom Pecheux (Home Agency) and casually undone hair by Orlando Pita. Taking inspiration from poetic words and the refined way in which many real women put themselves together the team crafted a look that infused nudes with shades of violet and mauve.
Pecheux utilized MAC’s Studio Finish concealer over moisturizer to hide any imperfections, while leaving the skin almost bare. New lip shades Go Guava and Must Have Melon were then pressed and tapped into cheeks to create the creamy flush models sported – the colors debuted at Lam’s show are set to pop up in stores come fall. Lipstick was also used to create the vivid purple eye used for the show – a smudge of MAC Pro’s Violetta lipstick was blended from lashline to crease in lieu of eyeshadow for a berry tinted look. For even more glow MAC’s popular Mineralize Skinfinish was used in Lightscapade – a multidimensional shade that combines taupe with blue, pink, orange and flecks of gold.
When the makeup is interesting, the hair should follow suit and Orlando Pita created chic looks to match each girl’s personality and natural style. Rather than adding extensions Pita kept the look simple, utilizing du-rags backstage to decrease unappealing puffiness at the crown and polished off the look with a spray of Phytovolume Actif before blowdrying in order to provide that coveted volume elsewhere.
