Richard Chai S/S 14

Don’t be surprised to see any of the Jonas Brothers or Teen Wolf’s Colton Haynes working a bold graphic look come spring. The young heartthrobs were all front-row and center for Richard Chai‘s sharp show early Thursday morning, when the designer sent out a clean, sporty collection that burst with color. Dresses went long, sweeping the floor or hitting right below the knee, while the boys sharpened up in a strong black-and-white palette. There were charming, playful prints, like the bruised poppy over a pajama stripes on Manon Leloup’s trousers or the twisted floral jacquard on Marie Piovesan’s pleated skirt. There were also a tough-looking selection of sturdy leather jackets thanks to a new collaboration with leather line Andrew Marc, from Arran Sly’s ink blue bomber to Ben Allen’s cargo jacket in a rich cognac. There was a slouchy appeal to the overall aesthetic, with loose trousers for men and long, flowing lines for women, for a look that was simple without being simplistic.
