Last Wednesday January 25th, New York Model Management‘s New Face agents Krisana Jaritsat and Marcos Olazabal were joined by President Heinz Holba, Vice President Marion Smith, and Agency Director Cory Bautista to host an intimate gathering at the luxurious penthouse of the Eventi Hotel for their fresh faced models. The topic of discussion? What they can expect for their first New York fashion week and what to look out for when going on castings, walking the shows, or just taking in what New York has to offer. The goal of the day was to educate and have a conversation that would encourage and engage a dialogue that focused on the importance of personal style, beauty, and healthy living habits during this fast paced time in their modeling careers.

A heavy hitting group of guest speakers were in attendance to offer some advice to the group. Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA, casting director John Pfeiffer, Teen Vogue bookings editor Lara Bonomo, street style blogger Phil Oh of Streetpeeper.com, and the agency’s own nutritionist. With the knowledge of all these influential guests, the new faces were given a crash course for the Fall/Winter 2012 show season.

Take away points: 1. The CFDA has a set of guidelines on how models are expected to be treated; 2. The most important quality in any casting is confidence; 3. When it comes to street style, wear the clothing and don’t let the clothing wear you; 4. Most importantly, make sure to have fun!
