The New Deal

Betty Sze has been MDC’s resident lenswoman for 10 years and her photography archives are vast and filled with special behind the scenes moments that are simply one of a kind. Of course not every picture makes its way into the seasonal backstage posts; Betty has a few thousand outtakes, each one with a special story: in our latest feature she shares some of her favorite images from over the years (starting with this past NY season) and muses on what makes them special to her.

Picture of the day:

Yuri Pleskun backstage at Duckie Brown F/W 10, February 2010, Bryant Park New York.

There’s a reason why Yuri is so popular with the clients. An effervescent personality and an unconventional beauty makes Yuri one of a kind. Here, his subversive handsomeness is a perfect match for Duckie Brown’s eye popping F/W 10 collection. He’s of Russian descent but a true New Yorker with the kind of accent that makes this hometown girl feel totally at home. (To see more images from Duckie Brown F/W 10, go to

I have truly enjoyed your images and commentary (and this wonderful site in all its glory) since I began visiting in mid-late 01′.

Here’s to more years full of fantastic behind-the-secnes-goodies!!
