Angelina Jolie Is The New Face of Tom Ford Beauty
Tom Ford Beauty has chosen Angelina Jolie as the brand’s first-ever celebrity to front a beauty campaign. The Runway Lip Color, featuring 18 shades—10 existing and 8 new—will launch globally in September. The collection also includes Runway Lip Pencils in eight shades, with prices ranging from $46 for the pencils to $62 for the lipsticks.This update is particularly timely for the brand, as recent reports from WWD indicate a decline in net sales for Tom Ford’s makeup line, especially within the lip category. The campaign, shot by Mert and Marcus, will start rolling out in September with stills, followed by a film in October. The new shade range includes an expanded lineup of nudes as well as timeless classics like Scarlet Rouge. [WWD]
Sarah Jessica Parker closing SJP
Actress Sarah Jessica Parker is shuttering her eponymous shoe company, SJP. Parker launched the brand in 2013 alongside George Malkemus III, the fashion executive credited with turning Manolo Blahnik into a household name in the US. Malkemus envisioned doing the same for Parker’s company, especially given that her character “Carrie” in HBO’s Sex and the City became synonymous with Manolo Blahnik’s shoes. The brand issued a statement saying, “After 10 colourful years, SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker has made the difficult decision to close its doors this fall. The SJP Collection team expresses enormous gratitude to all of their loyal customers and supporters, as well as all those they’ve worked alongside.” The company’s flagship store on the corner of Bleecker and Perry Street in New York will remain open until August 25th, along with the e-commerce site. Todd Snyder Is Back on the NYFW Show Circuit
After four-and-a-half years, Todd Snyder is making his return to New York Fashion Week. The designer, one of the few menswear figures still presenting collections in New York, decided to rethink his strategy after February 2020, which was the last time he showcased in the city. Being selected as a guest designer for the Pitti Uomo show in Florence last January reignited Snyder’s passion for the runway. “Doing the show in Florence in January was a great moment for me and the brand,” Snyder shared. “It was the biggest show I’d ever done, featuring 80 looks in total: 50 from the Todd Snyder collection and 30 from Woolrich Black Label. I got my mojo back and fell in love with shows again.” Snyder, who also leads Woolrich’s new premium collection, Woolrich Black Label by Todd Snyder, indicated that the upcoming spring collection will prominently feature tailored pieces. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is returning this fall after a five-year hiatus. The confirmed cast so far includes Imaan Hammam, Candice Swanepoel, Mayowa Nicholas, Paloma Elsesser, Devyn Garcia, Taylor Hill, and Grace Elizabeth. The annual show was previously cancelled in 2019 after a decline in sales and poor television ratings.
