Carlos Nazario Leaves i-D, Walter Chiapponi Exits Blumarine, and more news you missed

Carlos Nazario Leaves i-D
Just a month after Alastair McKimm stepped down as Editor-in-Chief of i-D Magazine, Carlos Nazario announced his departure as Global Fashion Director of i-D, a position he has held since 2019. Nazario shared on Instagram, “I am beyond grateful for the stories we have told, the adventures we have been on, the time we have spent and the obstacles we have overcome as a family. I am looking forward to the new chapter of this legendary platform and am confident that i-D will continue to be a voice for the creative industry and our culture at large.” Currently, Nazario serves as the Style Director at Large at Harper’s Bazaar US. In February, following its acquisition by Karlie Kloss, i-D announced a temporary halt in print and digital operations, launching a newsletter in the interim.

Walter Chiapponi Exits Blumarine
After one collection for the F/W season, Walter Chiapponi has departed from his role as creative director at Blumarine. Chiapponi, who initially embarked on his career at Blumarine said, “in this path my gratitude goes first and foremost to Marco Marchi, who made it possible, but also to all those without whom wouldn’t have been able to express myself as I did. I am especially referring to people I have loved and who are no longer with us, but who continue to instill strong emotions in me, to inspire my feelings and my journey. I now want to concentrate on new initiatives and projects with a social and humanitarian scope before returning at a later date, at the right time, to the catwalk.” Though no explicit reasons were given for his departure, Chiapponi hinted at grappling with grief, citing 2023 as a particularly challenging year. In an Instagram post reflecting on 2023 he said, “a horrible year in which I had to say goodbye to three of the beings that I loved the most,” referring to Noah (his nephew), Davide Renne, Moschino’s former creative director, and Cleonice (his dog). Prior to his tenure at Blumarine, Chiapponi served as the creative director of Tod’s, exiting in September. His portfolio includes collaborations with Givenchy, Valentino, Gucci, Miu Miu, and Bottega Veneta under the guidance of former creative director Tomas Maier. [WWD]

Celine Ventures into Cosmetics
For the first time in 80 years, Celine is stepping into the cosmetics industry with the launch of Celine Beauté. Set to debut this fall, the brand will unveil its inaugural product, ‘Rouge Triomphe’, a single shade of lipstick. Building upon the success of Celine’s Haute Parfumerie collection introduced in 2019, the Le Rouge Celine lipstick line will expand in 2025 to encompass a total of 15 shades, including ‘La Peau Nue’ – a rosy nude featured on models in the F/W 2024 show. This debut represents a modern interpretation of the classic red lipstick – a timeless French beauty staple, encased in minimalist faceted gold packaging adorned with the maison’s signature couture monogram. As seasons progress, new collections designed by Slimane will enrich the Celine Beauté brand, featuring lip balms, mascaras, eyeliners, powders, cases, and nail polishes. [Harpers Bazaar]
