The CFDA Nominees
The Council of Fashion Designers of America has officially announced the nominees and honorees for the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards, presented by Amazon Fashion. The prestigious event is scheduled to take place at the American Museum of Natural History in New York on November 6th. In the category of American Womenswear Designer of the Year, the nominees include Joseph Altuzarra for Altuzarra, Christopher John Rogers, Catherine Holstein for Khaite, Raul Lopez for Luar, and Tory Burch. Meanwhile, for the American Menswear Designer of the Year, the contenders are Mike Amiri for Amiri, Willy Chavarria, Colm Dillane for KidSuper, Teddy von Ranson for Teddy Vonranson, and Thom Browne. In the American Accessory Designer of the Year category, the nominees are Ana Khouri, Brandon Blackwood, Stuart Vevers for Coach, Raul Lopez for Luar, and Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row. Recognizing emerging talent, the American Emerging Designer of the Year nominees feature Bach Mai, Connor McKnight, Rachel Scott for Diotima, Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell for Tanner Fletcher, and Carly Mark for Puppets and Puppets. The board of directors tribute will honor Vera Wang for her significant contributions to the bridal industry. The Founder’s Award, in honor of Eleanor Lambert, will be presented to Domenico De Sole, chairman of Tom Ford International. Maria Cornejo will be the recipient of the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. Alina Cho will be awarded the Media Award in honor of Eugenia Sheppard, while the Environmental Sustainability Award will go to Mara Hoffman. Finally, the International Designer of the Year Award will be bestowed upon Jonathan Anderson for JW Anderson and Loewe. Louis Vuitton Launches Podcast Hosted by Loïc Prigent
French fashion journalist and documentary maker, Loïc Prigent, just released his latest video showcasing Pharrell Williams‘ debut menswear show for Louis Vuitton in June on his YouTube channel. This comes at the perfect time, as Louis Vuitton and Prigent have joined forces to create the brand’s inaugural podcast, titled Louis Vuitton [Extended]. Episode one premiered this Thursday, offering an inside look at the singer discussing his sources of inspiration and the creation of the show. The event drew a star-studded crowd, including Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Zendaya, and culminated with a concert by Jay-Z. Hosted by Prigent, the podcast promises to provide a “deep dive into the creative heart, minds, and projects of the maison.” Participants will range from the house’s creative directors to a chef who has collaborated with Louis Vuitton on one of its culinary endeavors or an artist involved in a collaborative design project. Each episode will have a duration of 20 to 40 minutes and will be available for free on major audio streaming platforms. [WWD]

Vogue World Debuts In London
Just before the start of London Fashion Week, Vogue World made its debut in London at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane last night. The event served as a celebration of British creatives spanning various eras, from the days of Shakespeare to the contemporary influence of artists like Stormzy. Notably, all proceeds from the gathering were directed towards supporting performing arts organizations, including the National Theatre and Royal Opera House, among others. The event commenced with the iconic Kate Moss opening the show, while her fellow supermodels, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, and Cindy Crawford, graced the runway to close out the event. In the midst of the various displays, FKA twigs took the stage to deliver a mesmerizing performance, among other performances. [Vogue]
