Kering in Talks To Buy Tom Ford
French luxury conglomerate, Kering is in talks to buy Tom Ford. Competing against Estée Lauder, who was also in talks to acquire Tom Ford in August for a whopping “$3 billion or more and could represent the cosmetics giant’s largest-ever acquisition.” At the moment, there have been no confirmations of an agreement but shares in Gucci-owner Kering (PRTP.PA) rose 2.4% early Friday. Jacquemus Heads to Paris, While Celine Heads to LA
After debuting two collections in Hawaii and South of France, Simon Porte Jacquemus is set to showcase his next off-season show in Paris. The “Le Raphia” collection will debut on Dec 12th, with the location being kept under wraps for now. From what can be gathered from past Jacquemus shows, we can assume the set design will be especially aesthetically pleasing. Also known for showing off-calendar, Hedi Slimane will debut Celine’s S/S 23 collection in Los Angeles, California on Dec 8th. To give viewers a taste of the collection, Celine will drop a film on their website of the S/S 23 collection shot in the south of France sometime in November. [WWD]

Gucci To Present Men’s Only Collection for MFW
Gucci has decided to ditch coed shows. The luxury house is set to debut its new menswear line during Milan Men’s Fashion Week (Jan 13- 17th). Gucci president and CEO Marco Bizzarri said, “We have stuck to two displays per year but together with Alessandro [Michele] we decided to put a stronger emphasis on menswear, after holding coed shows for several seasons.” Versace, Dsquared2, and Givenchy will also debut their men’s collections during MFW. Katie Burnett’s New Book “I Wash You Dry” is Out
Artist Katie Burnett, known for her styling work, has published her second book, “ I Wash You Dry.” The forty-paged surrealist book takes readers on a trip into the psychedelic mix of beaches, bodies, and sock puppets with images shot between Jamaica and her Brooklyn home, where her inspiration is strongest. When speaking about allowing self-exploration to unfold in the book, Burnett said, “For me, I love when you can’t tell what side is up and what is down. I find Surreal images, whether it be art or photography with a surrealist point of view, to be a dominant inspiration in my work, it has such a timeless yet futuristic sensibility I am drawn to.” Coinciding with the book launch, Burnett will release a limited-edition bathroom set consisting of shower curtains and towels with e-retailer SSENSE in December. Bottega Veneta’s New Lifetime Warranty Progam Is Here
Ensuring their customers a lifetime of luxury, Bottega Veneta announced their lifetime bag warranty initiative called the “Certificate of Craft” program. Free of charge, customers can now send their bags back to Bottega for refreshes and repairs. Leo Rongone, Bottega Veneta CEO, said, “Bottega Veneta is an extraordinary craft with exquisite design and creativity. The Certificate of Craft is born out of a desire to offer our clients a superior service of long-term preservation of their products.” Starting this month, every bag purchased from Bottega Veneta will come with a physical and digital card marked with a specific serial number connected to the Certificate of Craft program. Jonathan Anderson Taps Taylor Russell as Loewe’s Global Ambassador.
The creative director of Loewe, Jonathan Anderson, has a new muse, Taylor Russell. For Loewe S/S 23 show, the actress opened the show and this week was announced as the Spanish luxury brand’s new global ambassador. The actress met Anderson through Bones and All Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, and since then Anderson has found her inspiring. Russell said, “Jonathan has been at the forefront of creativity in fashion, with such a distinct vision and voice. I am excited for our imaginations to reach new heights as we explore and collaborate in this incredibly special partnership.” Russell will be featured in the brand’s upcoming campaign for the spring 2023 pre-collection, photographed by Juergen Teller. During the pandemic, model Yumi Nu decided to focus on creating her size-inclusive made-to-order line, Blueki. After realizing more and more that “ there was this huge gap in fashion for mid- and plus-sized customers,” Nu decided to start her new venture. The model wanted to create a range of wardrobe essentials that were not only available in a large variety of sizes and styles but was also ethically made.
