NYFW Returns
A year and a half later, the shows are back, and so are the crowds, let the games begin! NYFW kicked off with Collina Strada’s spring 2022 show, the collection focusing on a mix between natural elements and the world around her. Proenza Schouler, Peter Do, and Prabal Gurung followed the next day, Proenza Schouler’s collection focused on life, post-pandemic, ease, and joy and a reworked version of the classic black suit. Peter Do’s first-ever runway show was one to watch out for. Set in Greenpoint with a view of the Manhattan skyline, the collection featured elements of practicality and incorporating traditional Vietnamese attire. Prabal Gurung’s collection was an ode to his Asian-American heritage, combining majestic silhouettes with the ease of sportswear. Last night, LaQuan Smith had a concrete jungle moment by presenting at New York’s legendary Empire State Building. The collection was filled with sexy mesh bodysuits and cut-out dresses, for the ultra-confident woman. Today brings a new day of shows, with NYFW officially ending this Sunday. [Vogue Runway]

New Leadership On The Rise For Vogue Paris and Vogue Italia
This past weekend, Vogue promotions were announced to the public, it seems the role of “Editor-in-chief” is slowly transforming to “Head of Editorial Content” at Condé Nast. After two decades of working at Vogue Paris, Emmanuelle Alt has officially left her role as EIC of the french publication. Eugenie Trochu who first joined Condé Nast a decade ago as an intern for Vogue U.S. in Paris will now replace Alt as Head of Editorial Content. As for Vogue Italia, Francesca Ragazzi is now the Head of Editorial Content replacing Emanuele Farneti. Ragazzi also started her publishing career as an intern for Vogue Italia and worked her way up to fashion market director. [BoF]

Nensi Dojaka Wins 2021 LVMH Prize
The 28-year-old Albanian womenswear designer, Nensi Dojaka who’s known for her sultry mesh clothing line won the 2021 LVMH Prize for young designers. Dojaka is set to collect 300,000 euros (roughly $356,000) and a year of mentoring from professionals at LVMH, the french luxury conglomerate. The Central Saint Martins alumna designs have been seen on Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber, and Emrata, and after winning this prestigious prize we’re positive Nensi Dojaka will be seen on many more. Governor Kathy Hochul Partners With NYFW
Governor Kathy Hochul made an appearance at Prabal Gurung’s S/S 22 Show just as her office announced a partnership with IMG x New York Fashion Week: The Shows “to encourage growth in the creative industry sector of New York.” New York state will be providing complimentary access to show venues for NYFW, including Moynihan Train Hall and Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park in Battery Park City. Hochul said, “New York is the fashion capital of America, and this year’s New York Fashion Week sends a strong message that New York City is back”.

Michelle Ochs Launches Et Ochs Collection
Michelle Ochs left former design duo Cushnie et Ochs in 2018, leaving ​​Carly Cushnie to take on the role of creative director and chief executive, last year Cushnie closed its doors due to the pandemic. Now, Ochs is launching her own luxury collection alongside S Group, a Canadian family-run business, and debuted her new collection virtually on the CFDA’s Runway360 on Thursday. The former 2006 CFDA Scholarship Award and SAGA Design Award winner said, “Over the two years, I took the time and reflected. I’m re-energized about design, I have been quietly working on this. Supermodels Condemn Sexual Harassment In The Industry
As the majority of the industry flew in for NYFW, 6 models flew into Paris to testify against their former agent and European chief of Elite Model Management, Gérald Marie. A year after prosecutors opened the investigation, at least 24 accusers were asked to share their testimonies of allegations of rape and sexual misconduct. Carré Sutton has been a leader of the group, while the women have been receiving continuous support from the Model Alliance, as well as supermodels Carla Bruni, Karen Elson, Paulina Porizkova, and Milla Jovovich. Carla Bruni said “enough is enough – I stand with Carré and the other survivors of Gérald Marie as they come to Paris to testify against their abuser. No industry is immune from sexual abuse. There is so much work to do in France and around the world to ensure that women are protected from sexual violence on the job.” [NYT]

Etro Selects Fabrizio Cardinali As First CEO
Italian brand Etro has some new changes on the way, starting with appointing their first-ever CEO, Fabrizio Cardinali who is set to start before the end of the year. With over 25 years of industry experience, Cardinali’s previous positions were COO at Dolce and Gabanna and CEO of Dunhill and Lancel. [WWD]
