With a global theme of New Beginnings, Vogue’s coveted September issue features the ranked models making an inpact and a list of firsts: Anok Yai’s first Vogue September issues (her first was April 2020); Ariel Nicholson, the first trans model to land a Vogue cover; Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber, Lourdes Leon, Precious Lee, Sherry Shi, and Yumi Nu, the first plus-size Asian-American cover model. Former model Carré Otis Sues Gérald Marie over Rape Allegations
Former model, actress, and activist Carré Otis who mainly goes by Carré Sutton has filed a lawsuit under New York’s Child Victims Act against Ex Elite executive Gérald Marie. The lawsuit mentioned that not only was Sutton repeatedly raped by Marie but was also allegedly trafficked by him to “other wealthy men around Europe.” The actress claimed that Trudi Tapscott and other former Elite employees were seen as enablers and aware of the assaults that took place. Sutton said, “It became clearer and clearer to me that if I did push back, I would not work” and stated that was exactly what happened. [The NYT]

Target Pairs with Nili Lotan, Rachel Comey, Sandy Liang, and Victor Glemaud
Target has a successful habit of teaming up with the buzzworthy design talents and selling out whether it’s Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, Missoni, Jason Wu, or Christopher John Rogers. This week, the retailer announced its latest collaborative efforts will connect them with four New York-based fashion designers: Nili Lotan, Rachel Comey, Sandy Liang, and Victor Glemaud. The limited-run collections will be available beginning in September just in time for fashion week and feature pieces with design accessible to everyone.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are Tiffany & Co.’s latest brand ambassadors
In the just-released Harpers Bazaar September 2021 cover issue, Beyoncé gave the public more insight into her life and her plans for the future. One of them including, a partnership with Jay-Z for the LVMH owned-brand, Tiffany & Co. In all of the covers, Beyonce is dripped with Tiffany pieces and joins Tracee Ellis Ross, Eileen Gu, and Anya Taylor-Joy as brand ambassadors. [Fashionista]

New York Fashion Week Is En Route And For The Vaxxed, Only.
New York City, is one of the first cities to require proof of vaccination for indoor dining, gyms, and other events starting August 16th. The CFDA has naturally followed suit and is requiring proof of vaccination for all guests, staff, and on-site individuals. IMG also announced a vaccination requirement for Spring Studios, the CFDA said, “Following IMG’s announcement of a vaccination requirement at NYFW: The Shows, we encourage the broader industry to follow suit as it is imperative to place the safety of guests and those working events in the highest priority, we will be closely following updates and recommendations from the CDC, New York State, and city, and will be releasing further detailed guidelines in mid-August.” [Vogue]

Oscar de La Renta Ditches Fur
Oscar de la Renta joins the growing list of luxury brands and retailers going fur-free including Versace, Michael Kors, Gucci, Neiman Marcus and even, Canada Goose. The luxury fashion house stopped implementing fur into their designs two years ago, but let their fur licensing expire this past April. The current fur products are expected to sell out by the end of October. [WWD]
