New Yorker Ulla Johnson has had a longstanding connection to the feminine divine with her delicate approach to design and for Fall 2020 she paired her print signatures with more energetic coloring. Bold drops of turquoise, citrine, and fuschia brought vivid joy to her SoHo show; parallel with Johnson’s crocheted doily knits, supple lambskin leather, and signature bohemian prints. A welcomed introduction of new elements came in the form of a handmade-in-Italy optical line and expanded jewelry collection in partnership with women’s collectives in Kenya. Opener Barbara Valente and closer Nya Gatbel were’s colorful bookends in Johnson’s fashion fable.
