The old adage goes “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and for makeup artist Pep Gay, the statement rings true. From his humble beginnings in Barcelona to moving up the beauty ranks in London and New York, Gay has gone on to push the limits of makeup as he’s created enduring looks for the pages of 10 Magazine, i-D, Vogue, and Beauty Papers. The daring, expressive artistry of his work and naturally inquisitive mindset has led him to speculate on what beauty means and exactly how it translates to the masses.
