An unprecedented year of audience-less shows, gutted creative teams and restricted traveling (which is still affecting castings with a noticeable decline in East Asian models) meant fewer model debuts in a year filled with lookbooks and digital presentations. The previous F/W 21 season in February had 7 newcomers newly debuted on the runway; S/S 21 in Autumn 2020 had 6. This season’s extensive list is a reflection of the tireless, ongoing global efforts to participate in the ever-ephemeral nature that is runway shows with live audiences. Alongside our official Models.com list of runway newcomers, a selection of the industry’s most influential voices weighed in and selected the S/S 22 new faces they are keeping an eye on. Follow along with the latest from our Top Newcomers here and Top Breakouts here.
