Since we left her back in 2017, fashion stylist Julia Sarr-Jamois has continued her streak of aligning with Britain’s biggest books as the current Fashion Director of British Vogue. Born in London, she embarked on her remarkable career at the age of 19 as an intern at i-D Magazine, assisting Fran Burns at Love, then returning to i-D as senior fashion editor and collaborating with renowned photographers like Tyrone Lebon, Harley Weir, and Zoë Ghertner. In 2018, she assumed the pivotal position of fashion editor-at-large at British Vogue, later becoming the fashion director under Edward Enninful’s tenure.

Since her appointment, Sarr-Jamois has masterfully captured a diverse array of stories, from the vibrant energy of Serena Williams in Los Angeles to morphing fearless friends like Adwoa Aboah or an elaborate exploration of a journey aboard the Orient Express. She’s also found the perfect balance of extracurricular gigs with a client portfolio, including designing a capsule collection for FRAME, working with emerging talents like 16Arlington, and styling major world tours for a certain Queen Bee. We sat down with Sarr-Jamois at The Mark Hotel to discuss the blessing and curse of street style, giving people space to be creative, and the importance of collaboration with peers you respect.
