The Look Of Our Times
The fashion of the Zeroes might still be bedded in revival fever but early 21st century industrial design has been fast forwarding with a brilliant new aesthetic. Designers like Phillipe Starck (with the seminal Louis Ghost chair), Ferruccio Laviani (with his eagerly anticipated Bourgie lamp) and Jon Russel (with the Ghost Candelabra) are addressing the computer age's tension between a digital aesthetic and the revisionist impulse towards the decorative .Our favorite new product though has to be Tord Boontje's insanely successful Garland light set which uses Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) routing to create a gorgeous tangle of stainless steel flowers and leaves. It is so this year's Milk Bottle lamp. And if you mod-minimalist friends want to sneer in disapproval, just tell them its your directional Art Nouveau gesture. All for a mere $70! Paging Paz de Huerta

So much so that she is the latest celebrity to join IMG's star packed board. ATM's (actress turned models) are a dime a dozen but very few have Paz's bonafide cool. We can just see the Marc Jacobs bag named in her honor already. Posted by wayne at 02:57 PM
