Liberty Ross backstage at Alexander Wang S/S 13 – picture by Janelle Okwodu
Glow in the dark dresses aside, the most talked about moment of Alexander Wang‘s S/S 13 show was the triumphant catwalk return of Liberty Ross. Stunning industry doyens often reappear on Wang’s runways, but Ross’ exclusive was a special treat and a timely one. Moments after Ross surfaced on the Wang runway looking better than ever her name was trending on Twitter, the story made waves on the Huffington post and the fashion world was abuzz. MDC caught up with Liberty backstage and found out why she came back just for Alex and what she considers her current style essentials.
MDC: How is your NYFW going so far?
LIBERTY: My week is going beautifully! I just arrived 2 nights ago and I went to see Madonna in concert which was really fun. Yesterday I relaxed and today I am doing Wang so I am just very happy to be here.
MDC: What made you want to come back and do Alexander’s show?
LIBERTY: I haven’t done his show before and and I am a huge fan of his. I wear his clothes, honestly, probably every other day. I feel very honored, this is a show I’ve always wanted to be a part of.
MDC: You have incredible style – what would you say are your essentials?
LIBERTY: I’ve had so much fun shopping recently, there are so many new things I have found. I love the Louis Vuitton collaboration with Yayoi Kusama, they have these amazing blue leggings I am really excited to wear. I love my Givenchy t-shirts, I love Balenciaga’s s rock and roll style. Alaïa of course, I’ve got these incredible high boots on right now. And of course Alexander Wang – he always has really fun, brilliant clothes. I think I’m just having fun with clothes right now – I am totally busting out!
