Top 50 Models
How the Top 50 Models list works
Clients set the bar for today's models and it's their choices that create coveted girls who are poised to become the next generation of supermodels. From the daily call sheets of top photographers (Meisel, Inez & Vinoodh, Mert & Marcus) to the steady bookings of editorial giants (Vogue, V, i-D, W) and powerhouse brands (Balenciaga, Prada, Vuitton, Calvin Klein) can be culled a clear message about who are the most wanted models of the moment.

In an increasingly competitive market, flooded with hundreds of "cool editorial girls", it's the campaigns and contracts that are the final index of how crucial a model is at any given moment. The models of the Top 50 have risen through the ranks and impressed designers, casting directors, photographers and more. Their combination of prestigious covers, choice campaign bookings and consistent blue-chip editorials sets them apart from their competitors. These beauties have proven themselves and are well positioned to graduate to one of the other major rankings and become future superstars.

The campaigns and covers counted here include only the ones booked in the last 12 months with top magazines and fashion & cosmetic brands.

When Meisel embraces a girl in a big way it can transform a fresh face into a star. With back to back Vogue Italia covers and Prada campaigns, Amanda Murphy is the iconic photographer's latest favorite but he's far from the only one to notice this Chicagoan stunner. Frequent appearances in American Vogue, plus campaigns for Celine, Bottega and Ferragamo cement Amanda's status as a major player in the modeling world.

A chance encounter at Howard Homecoming was all new face Anok Yai needed to be the viral talk of the town. The Sudanese muse was the first black model to open Prada since Naomi Campbell in 1997 and has been in 4 of their ad campaigns. Fendi and Alexander Wang campaigns, editorials in British Vogue and Vogue Italia, plus single model covers for Dazed, i-D, Purple have Anok waving down to us all from the stratosphere. The icing on the cake in 2018 was of course her joining the Estee Lauder family as one of their newest ambassadors.

Season after season, freckled face Ansley Gulielmi has landed the campaigns that matter, working with the visual heavyweights in fashion - just ask Meisel, McDean, or Sorrenti. Since her debut in 2017 in the Milan she’s walked for shows like Dior, Sacai, Givenchy and Prada, picked up covers for Interview, Document, Vogue Italia and Vogue Japan along the way, while tending to her money tree thanks to Jil Sander, Versace, Givenchy, and Zara.

Top model meets stunning bombshell! Ashley Graham has demanded the respect of the industry's lack of inclusivity and has finally made her high fashion full push. Nabbing a monumental British Vogue cover at the top of the year an American Vogue cover soon followed. Add editorial spreads in V Magazine shot by Steven Klein, ads for Sephora and H&M, and the continual support by Sports Illustrated it’s (finally!) her time to shine!

There’s a new Hadid in the spotlight and she’s ready for her close up. Bella has been able to create a lane all of her own with ad campaigns for clients like Marc Jacobs, Topshop, & Versace. The sultry star snagged an Allure cover and editorials for Self Service, CR Fashion Book, V, Love, and Vogue this season and her show season was even more impressive. Miu Miu, Chanel, and an exclusive spot at Givenchy on top of her great roster of show bookings last season was all that was needed to take her to the next level. Que Bella!

Describing Charlee Fraser as one of a kind is no understatement, especially when you consider her Aboriginal heritage from the Awabakal people, adding her to a sparse (but growing) group of Indigenous Australian models. Since she internationally debuted with a new haircut on Alexander Wang’s FW16 runway, Charlee has been anything but in short supply: Multiple campaigns including Givenchy and Céline alongside editorial appearances in Vogue US, W Magazine, Dazed, Numéro and Document certainly is evidence enough that this rare beauty is all over.

Whether it’s for campaigns (Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Dior Beauty), editorial (Interview, Vogue Italia, Another Mag) or on the runway (there’s barely a major catwalk she hasn’t been on), the industry seems to have fell hard for the charm of Korean mega-watt, Sora Choi. Her delightfully edgy look coupled with strong personal style and a genuine free-spiritedness has grabbed her bookings by the likes of Steven Meisel, Bruce Weber, Mario Sorrenti, and Cass Bird — to mention but a few.

There are many models but only one Teddy Q. The fiery muse has been a runway standard since an exclusive debut at LV in 2015 and has steadily built a book that has tears from Love, Vogue Japan, and Interview Magazine. Whether in front of the camera or on the street right after a big show, her enthusiasm remains unmatched and has drafted her a legion of supporting mentors like Katie Grand, Pat McGrath and Nicolas Ghesquière. Both a street-style star and socially outspoken, Teddy models from many angles. Her latest successes: a Marc Jacobs beauty campaign and i-D cover are but parts of a bigger picture, one that Teddy seems enthusiastic and determined to unveil.

It was a dream debut walking exclusively for Prada that skyrocketed this Dutch stunner into full-force sensation. Since then, Yasmin has graced most of the major runways in the business - Versace, Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Alexander Wang, and or course, Prada just to name a few. If that stacked roster wasn’t enough to convince you then a debut advertisement campaign for the brand that started it all, Prada, shot by master photog, Steven Meisel absolutely must!
