Peter Duffy

Role

Sound Designer

Biography

Londoner Peter Duffy graduated in 2005 with a BA in Music Technology and Innovation, before gaining experience working in a West End post production house.

Peter met filmmaker and illustrator Quentin Jones in 2009, collaborating on her Central St. Martins College degree shows, gaining the pair wider attention within fashion circles. The partnership blossomed, with Peter commissioned to compose
for some of the industry's biggest names including Chanel, Victoria Beckham and Vogue.

Bass and percussion driven, Peter’s work layers levels of textures and samples on top of staccato beats, resulting in atmospheric pieces which invoke a sense of urgency and build. Peter's playful and unpredictable use of sound gives a nod to the Looney Tunes cartoons of yesterday, which has become something of a trademark for his sound design work in the world of fashion film.

Last year saw Peter work on a three-part film for jewellery brand House of Waris, before securing his first TV spot for US supermarket Target and Nieman Marcus.

As one half of the band Man Like Me, Peter has worked alongside such music industry luminaries as Mike Skinner (The Streets) and Jessie Ware, while touring the world sharing stages with Madness, Tricky and Basement Jaxx to name a few. The band has also worked on campaigns with several global brands, including IKEA, Samsung, Beats by Dre and Boxfresh.

His track production and song writing talents have been championed at BBC Radio 1 where Nick Grimshaw, Rob Da Bank and Annie Mac are all fans, and earlier this year Guardian Guide named the song ‘Sleaze’ their ‘Pick of the Week’.
