Joachim Müller-Ruchholtz was born in Düsseldorf, Germany. He studied at the prestigious Academy of arts in Leipzig, where a lot of his classical training in German documentary photography was developed.
After moving to the UK in 2010, Joachim progressed his training in sharp international studio photography, giving him an edge between a world of documentary and fashion photography.
Publisher of two books including “Portraits”, a study curated over two years which captures models of renown agency TIAD caught in between the worlds of work and home and in between being men and boys. His second publication “The Dannenroder Forst” came from time spent among activists living in treehouses, as they made a stand against the German government threatening to build a motorway through the old growth forest. The book won “The 20 Best Swiss books 2021” acknowledgement and was shortlisted for the The Belfast Photo prize 2022.
