Ben Pogue is a visual artist who works primarily within the discipline of still life photography.
Born and raised in rural Australia, Ben grew up with a keen interest in art, street culture and fashion–none of which related to his immediate surroundings. He was first exposed to international publications like The Face and Interview magazine by happening upon them at garage sales and old record stores. His interest in photography developed after being sent to boarding school at age thirteen. Exploiting his school’s creative department after hours, he used his time experimenting and emulating techniques seen in magazines. Ben went on to complete a BA in photography at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and moved to the US shortly after to assist the photographers he most admired.
Today, Ben is known for his fresh, minimal approach to photography. His restraint in composition, sophisticated use of color and ability to retain the tactile qualities of his subjects has allowed him to collaborate with the foremost creative publications and brands.
He has contributed to various publications, such as T Magazine, The New York Times Style Magazine, US Vogue, Teen Vogue, Details, Esquire and V Magazine.
His advertising clients include Chanel, MAC Cosmetics, Jil Sander, Nike, Reebok, H&M, and UNIQLO.
