Ashley Batz became interested in creating at a very young age as she chose to write, cast, and direct large scale productions in lieu of the required one page essay. Her way of playing with friends always involved a disposable camera and photo shoots around her neighborhood.
Growing up in an era when women were not considered viable assistants, Ashley had to navigate the industry differently. Finally, with the help of an apprenticeship with Art Streiber, she solidified her path. She set the bar high for celebrity portraiture as the sole photographer at Bustle Magazine and infused life and soul to Everlane’s creative despite living in the throes of a pandemic as their Lead Photographer.
There is a stark emphasis on the people in front of her camera - the agency and attention dedicated to bringing out the most authentic version of each person is unparalleled.
Born just outside of San Francisco, Ashley grew up with a strong connection to her Italian heritage and a deep drive for self-expression. Her approach to image making is rooted in the belief that everyone should feel celebrated in this world. She also has an extensive background in athleticism, from over 15 years playing softball and dance, she inevitably incorporates movement into her process.
